I think, we naturally desire happy times more than the sad times. We want happiness and comfort. But, the thing is that even the much comforting things can sometimes become an idol. However, bad times and difficulties are when we can obtain wisdom and have a proper and genuine perspective about God and our earthly life.
Surprisingly, I have come across to read the verse from the bible that speaks about true wisdom. It guides us to the real truth behind all things where we need to putting our fear, love and trust in God alone 💗. So, what the bible verse talks about is this...
A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth. It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of everyone; the living should take this to heart. Frustration is better than laughter, because a sad face is good for the heart. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of pleasure. It is better to heed the rebuke of a wise person than to listen to the song of fools. Like the crackling of thorns under the pot, so is the laughter of fools. This too is meaningless.
Extortion turns a wise person into a fool, and a bribe corrupts the heart.
The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride. Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.
Do not say, "Why were the old days better than these?" For it is not wise to ask such questions.
Wisdom, like an inheritance, is a good thing and benefits those who see the sun. Wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter, but the advantage of knowledge is this: Wisdom preserves those who have it.
Consider what God has done:
Who can straighten what he has made crooked? When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future. - Ecclesiastes 7:1-14
Hence, true wisdom is to fear God even when we cannot see all that God is doing. We can leave it to Him to make sense of it all, until the end of our lives on this earth, that is death! Furthermore, it describes the meaninglessness of living without God. And well yes, the meaning is deep!..😅.
When we getting to learn and understand the true wisdom from God, we all can and should be happy and joyful no matter the circumstances of our lives. It teaches us that if we pursue the way of wisdom, we will experience that deep inner joy. And, although we cannot know the future, we don't have to know the future to experience joy. God is who He is, and we can trust in Him, following His way of wisdom. And that is the better way to live.
Ecclesiastes really gives us the brilliant lessons that the key to life is not in life itself. The pursuit of pleasure, materialism, wealth, money and power is useless, foolish and ultimately unsatisfying. True happiness comes from centering our lives on God, and not ourselves. And, that true joy only can be found in putting our faith in God and to be grateful always.. And then, you will receive a joyful heart only from above when you have acquired His true wisdom in your life 🙏.
Last but not least, the secret to life is not in things. Instead the key to fulfillment, meaning and joy is to enjoy life and fear God!
